Disposables are easy, cheap, and convenient to buy, but they also impact our planet. Most plastics in Chicago aren’t recycled. The city has around a 9% recycling rate, which means that even if it goes into the correct bin, it doesn’t necessary get recycled into a new product.

Paper plates often have plastic coatings, making them unable to be recycled as paper, and can introduce microplastics into the environment.

Balloons, streamers, and lots of other decor are cute but single use.
